Day 3 -- Feeling More Confident

Kazi and Capri are really settling in now. Capri is feeling a lot more confident although still has times when she jumps and scurries away with loud or sudden movements.
Instead of shying away from the other dogs, Capri now wants to join in on the fun. It's good for puppies her age to have good, positive experiences with other dogs to help prevent fear or unsocial behavior associated with strange dogs.

We had to take advantage of the sunshine today because we are heading into several days of rain which means most of our lessons will have to be taken indoors.

Kazi is doing really well with his "sit." He is learning to sit for his meals, sit for pets, sit to go outside, etc. He is still doing some jumping but he is figuring out more quickly that it doesn't result in any attention from me. What works for him is sitting and each day he offers that behavior more and more.

Capri is also doing well with her "sit." She likes to work in a more quiet environment that is less distracting for her. She is more reserved than Kazi so it takes some encouragement and confidence building to get the job done.

For both dogs, when they are together, it is much more difficult to work on the "sit." They start to compete with one another to get attention and then both start clamoring to jump on me. Their sits will need to be pretty solid separately before they will be able to do it well with both in the same room.

And now that I am getting pretty good attention from them (making eye contact when I say their names), we can start working on coming when called.
